Devon woman injured after Bulmers cider bottle exploded
A young mother was left with a gaping hole in her leg after a bottle of Bulmers cider exploded 'like a bomb' during a family day out at the beach.
Charlotte Greatrex, 24, suffered a nasty gash as a result of the unpleasant incident and has been told by doctors to stay off her feet.
Ms Greatrex was enjoying a day along the Cornish coast at Looe, when the bottle sent shards of glass flying - leaving sunbathers diving for cover.

The cider bottle shattered inches from where she was sitting, and fragments of glass flew into her leg, leaving a bloodied hole.Â
The mother-of-one said: 'It was like a bomb when it went off and at first I just laughed, I couldn't feel anything.
'Then I looked down and the adrenaline wore off and I called out to my mum, ''Look at my leg!''
'I told my son's dad to take him away when it happened - my little boy is only two and I didn't want him to see me crying.'
Ms Greatrex had bought the cider, which cost £1.99 a bottle, from a nearby branch of Co-op and said it exploded just after being removed from a cooler bag.
She said: 'We were on the steps and I had my fee t on the beach. My mum was sat right next to me, I took most of the blow.
'I could have been blinded - I just keep thinking it could have been so much worse.

Ms Greatrex has now called for Bulmers to take action so that others are not injured
'No-one touched it in the bag, it hadn't been shaken. It just went into shards everywhere.'Â
Ms Greatrex has now called for Bulmers to take action so that others are not injured by such freak occurrences.
She said: 'They wanted the product number from the bottle in order to track it, but they don't seem to understand just how small these shards were.'Â
A Bulmers spokesperson said 'We take issues regarding safety extremely seriously and thank Charlotte for bringing it to our attention.
'We realise this must have been quite alarming and we understand her obvious concern.
'Incidents like this are incredibly rare, and we have not had any similar reports affecting bottl es.
'However, we will investigate as far as we can with the information we have been provided, and we will update her in due course.'Â
