Fife wedding venue hits couple with lawsuit after damage
A couple say memories of their dream wedding day have been left in tatters after the venue hit them with a £20,000 lawsuit.Â
Robert and Karyn Adamson got married in a lavish ceremony at Balbirnie House in Fife, Scotland in 2015.
But the pair now face being hauled to court after the hotel claimed they were responsible for leaving the shower running in the bridal suite and flooding the room below.Â

The pair dispute the hotel's allegations, claiming the leak was caused by earlier refurbishment work in the suite's bathroom.Â
According to the Daily Record, Mr and Mrs Adamson and Balbirnie House are now embroiled in a bitter legal battle which could go before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court if it is not resolved.
The venue was named Wedding Hotel of the Year 2017 at the Scottish Hotel Awards and a one-night stay in the suite costs £260.
According to the Daily Record, staff woke the pair in the early hours telling them a leak in the downstairs function room was coming from their room, insisting they had left a shower head running on the floor.Â
But Karyn, 31, and Robert, 34, claim the leak s prung from a fault in the refurbished bathroom.Â
Mrs Adamson said: 'The bridal suite had just undergone a renovation and we were the first people to use it.Â
'They looked in the bathroom and the tap was running but the water was not flooding or building up â" it was just running down the plughole.'

Mr Adamson added: 'The new bathroom leaked the first time it was used and the hotel are saying it's our fault.
'They also knocked on Karyn's mum and dad's room before they came to us because, apparently, there had been previous issues with the plumbing there.'
The pair received an invoice for £4,000 to cover the cost of damaged carpets while on honeymoon in Mauritius.Â
Law firm Brodies LLP have now demanded £20,000 from them to cover loss of earnings. Â
Balbirnie House was built in 1817 for General Robert Balfour of Balbirnie, great uncle of Arthur Balfour, who was prime minister in 1902. Â
Balbirnie House has been contacted for comment. Â
