£30 inflatable BubbleBum child seat booster

Lugging around a booster seat for your child on holiday is far from fun.

And with airlines and car-hire companies often charging anywhere from £10 a day for a booster seat, renting one can be an expensive option. 

But this new inflatable booster seat, retailing for £30, might just be the answer to parents' prayers - and they're flying off the shelves.

The BubbleBum device has become a popular accessory on family breaks because it's both portable and saves user's money, its website claims.

Weighing 500g, equivalent to three small bananas, it's designed to fit into a school or handbag when deflated. 

But, once augmented, it nestles perfectly into a plane, train or car-seat.

Operational in seconds, it's suitable for children aged 4-11 and meets the necessary safety standards everywhere except Canada and Australia. 

Given how much booster seats can cost to hire, this could save a substantial sum for European holiday-makers. 

For a two-week break in Spain, Europcar will charge  £70.38 for a baby seat and the same for a booster. Avis charges £62.53 for each while Hertz asks £65.17.

At Nice airport in the South of France, you can expect to be charged £34.45 for the infant seat and £12.92 for the booster by Avis. 

Europcar would charge £26.13 for the infant seat and £13.49 for the booster.   

Meanwhile, Ryanair charges £10 each way to book in a booster seat online, but you’ll be charged £20 in the UK and €20 abroad if you leave it until you get to the airport. 

EasyJet will let you take a booster seat on board free for your child to use during the flight â€" though not during take-off and landing.

'The BubbleBum is made from a durable material, similar to that of life vests. The integrity of the structure of the seat comprises of memory foam and a strong webbing harness,' the product's official site reads. 

'The side positioning clips position the lap belt portion of the vehicle seat belt over the bony pelvis area away from the soft tissue of the abdomen, which is the optimum positioning for the safety of the child.'
