Royal Air Tattoo planes from around the world arrive

It's not often you see military aircraft from Spain, Turkey and France - along with the RAF's iconic Red Arrows - flying over the Bristol Channel, and on the same day.

But today, the roar of fighter jets filled the air as the planes made their way to the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire.

The three-day event, which starts tomorrow at RAF Fairford, is the world's largest military air show.

Aircraft from countries including Turkey, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Spain, Slovenia, Belgium and Germany will be part icipating at the event, considered the highlight of the aviation calendar.

During the thrilling eight-hour flying display (four hours on Friday), visitors can watch fast jets, giant transporters and historic aircraft.

And this year marks the return, after a ten-year absence, of the US Air Force Thunderbirds aerobatic demonstration team.
