London grandmother helps land her grandson his dream job

A grandmother managed to get her grandson his dream job after approaching her CEO neighbour on his doorstep and telling him what a good employee he would make.

Harry Sassoon, 23, landed the job after his 78-year-old grandmother Marianne decided that, rather than bother with email or lengthy application processes, the best way was to go and speak to her neighbour face-to-face.

Her passion convinced the senior manager to approach Harry, who has now been given an administrative role at the neighbour's online gaming magazine.

In an added boost for the grandmother, Harry has now moved much closer to her home in London so he work in the new job.

Grandmother-of-12 Marianne said: 'I just thought if you don't ask you don't get.

'Someone told me that my neighbour's company was doing well, so I decided to tell him all about my grandson.

'I was a bit nervous at first, I got Harry to write down his skills on a piece of paper, as I'm not too good with the computer and I just went and knocked on his door.

'I'm sure any grandparent would do the same thing for their grandchildren.'

She told the neighbour of Harry's extensive IT skills, prompting the firm to contact Harry and ask him to send them his CV.

Harry, from Reading, said: 'I was just on the phone one day explaining that I'd love to live closer to them in London so I could see her more and she asked me to give her a list of my skills.

'I initially thought nothing would happen, so I gave her a list just to humour her.

'I was really surprised when the CEO phoned me the next day and referred me to the HR Department, it was all very quick.'

The new job means that Harry and his girlfriend, Rebekah Nash, are moving from Reading to London, closer to his grandparents.

Marianne added: 'I'm very happy that he's moving to London.

'Harry's a very likable person, he's very helpful, and he's got very good morals. He's very happy in his new job and as far as I know his boss is extremely happy with him too.'

Harry said of his grandmother: 'She is just incredible, this is very typical of her, she loves doing these kind of things for people.

'She'll do anything to help her grandchildren. I never would have found this job without her, and I'm extremely grateful.'

Marianne has now set herself the task of finding Harry's girlf riend Rebekah a new job.
