Iowa baby wears glasses and sees mom for the first time

This is the moment a baby with a rare disorder sees his mother for the first time with the help of glasses.

The three-month-old named Everett, was diagnosed with oculocutaneous albinism, after his parents noticed he was not making eye contact or tracking movements.

In an adorable video, his mother can be seen fitting tiny glasses over his face, before he starts smiling and giggling.

People with oculocutaneous albinism are lack melanin pigment in the skin, hair and eyes.

The rare disorder can affect vision in a number of ways, and Everett's parents took him to the doctor when they noticed he wasn't tracking objects or making eye contact.

That changed with a pair of glasses, however, and the 1 minute 50 second clip, filmed in Warren County, Iowa, shows the moment Everett first saw his mother.

Everett appears to close his eyes when his mother fits the glasses over his face, and she can be heard coaxing him to look up.

And when he does, he gurgles and kicks his legs at the sudden change.

His mom repeatedly says 'Hi!' and Everett smiles and makes eye cont act with her before kicking his legs and gurgling.

After Everett soon grew accustomed to his glasses, and his parents hoped the video would help raise awareness of the condition.

They said: 'It is a rare disorder which seems to be misunderstood or not widely known about, but people with albinism can do anything everyone else can do.

'They just need some help with vision and protection from the sun.'
