A woman has taken to social media to share her dismay after purchasing a burger from McDonald's and finding it wasn't what she expected. 

New South Wales woman Deb Johnson posted an image of her burger on the McDonald's Facebook page.

She wrote: 'This is supposed to be a chicken and cheese burger? Purchased from Port Macquarie Pacific Highway Maccas (sic).'

The image shows an open burger with a piece of crumbed chicken on one side of the bun with no sauce and only a tiny piece of yellow cheese.

One person wrote: 'Ring them and complain... that's terrible.'

Another person agreed, commenting: 'Yep, l'd be sending the photo and an email with a please explain from Maccas.'

Ms Johnson replied to the comments saying she had tried to email McDonald's but they didn't give customers to send pictures with their emails.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Ms Johnson for further comment and McDonald's for a response to her complaint.
