Naked slurs 'ruined' Sophie Shambley's life, husband says
The British mother-of-two who Spanish police claimed âwandered through the streets naked and drunkâ said the allegations have ruined her life.
Sophie Shambley, 30, lost her job at the upmarket Anfi Del Mar resort in Gran Canaria after police arrested her for allegedly leaving her young children home alone.
Mrs Shambley and her family moved to Gran Canaria from Wigan just six weeks ago, and she claims they have received death threats since the alleged incident.

The university graduate claims it was a case of mistaken identity and she had been in her apartment when the incident allegedly took place.
Speaking for the family, her husband Shaun, 32, said they were devastated by the claims.
He said: âSophie lost her job and weâve been receiving death threats.
âItâs all completely lies, we were out with friends and Sophie brought the kids back to put them to bed.
âShe put them in bed, went to relax on the balcony and fell asleep. They were never alone. And all this stuff about being naked in the street is ridiculous.
âWe sold our house in the UK to move out here for a good life. Itâs ruined now, Iâm heartbroken for our young children.â
The family accused Spanish police of âfabricatingâ the allegations.
Mrs Shambley has since been bailed pending further inquires and reunited with her children, a boy, four, and a girl, 20 months.
Police claimed the De Montfort university graduate had been wandering naked through the resort of Patalavaca, a 20 minute walk from the family home.
When officers arrived at the apartment they claim to have found Mrs Shambley âdrunk and without any clothes onâ as her young son sat in tears.
The Shambleys live in a duplex apartment near the serene fishing town of Arguineguin, 40 miles from tourist hotspot Las Palmas.
A local familiar with the family, who did not want to be named, said: âThereâs no way she could have been walking around Patalavaca and got back to her apartment by the time police arrived.
âSomething doesnât add up. Itâs a good walk and lots of hills.
âIt must have been a different woman.â
Police were alerted by locals who saw a woman walking the streets and Mrs Shambleyâs son throwing toys over the balcony.

The family claimed their son often does this, despite them telling him not to, as part of a game with neighbours.
Mr Shambley said: âHeâs only four, he thinks itâs a game with the people downstairs because they throw them back up to him. He must have woken up after Sophie put him to bed.
âThe police have completely made this up, maybe theyâre selling the story and making some money from it. I donât know. I canât think where this has come from.â
Police claim they were called to the familyâs apartment at around 10pm.
A spokesman for the Spanish Civil Guard said: âOfficers went to the area after receiving calls about a woman who was apparently inebriated and walking naked along a street while her children were throwing objects.
âThey went to the place, discovering the door was open and hearing children crying.
âThey entered and found it in a mess with two young children who looked neglected.
âThe mother was laid on the bed without any clothes on and looked drunk.â
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.Â
