Pack your lightsaber! Immersive 'Star Wars' resort planned for Walt Disney World
At its D23 Expo fan fest in Anaheim last weekend, Disney revealed plans for an immersive âStar Warsâ hotel designed to take you into a galaxy far, far away at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Get ready to put on a uniform, board a starship and embark on an adventure with characters such as BB-8 and R2D2 at your side. âItâs unlike anything that exists today,â Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek said last Saturday. His comments were posted on the companyâs blog.
The idea is to provide a starship experience with stories and adventures that play out during visitorsâ stays. No timeline was given for the new resort.
Disney also announced another immersive resort: Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel, planned for Disneyland Paris. It promises to take guests into the world of Iron man, Spider-Man and other superheroes.
But back to âStar Wars.â The new themed land coming to Disneyland in 2019 will be called Galaxyâs Edge. It will also arrive at Disneyâs Hollywood Studios at the theme parkâs Orlando site.
Two attractions will dominate: one that puts visitors into a battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and one that sends them flying on the Millennium Falcon. The 14-acre land will feature characters from the film too, including BB-8, Chewbaca and others.
