Sophia McDonald's mother does not blame the driver
Sophie McDonald died after she was knocked down by a skip lorry while crossing the road
The mum of tragic schoolgirl Sophia McDonald has said she blames no-one else for her daughter's death but herself.
The seven-year-old died after she was knocked down by a skip lorry while crossing a road in Coventry, West Midlands.
An inquest in to the St Laurence's Primary School pupil's death took place yesterday and Sophia's loved ones - including her mum Yvonne Clarke - bravely listened to all the evidence.
And after Sean McGovern, coroner for Coventry, gave his conclusion of death as the result of a road traffic collision, Miss Clarke stated: 'I don't hold anyone responsible except for myself.'
The fatal collision happened on October 18, 2016, in Henley Road - just yards from Sophia's home in Old Church Road.
Mr McGovern began proceedings at Coventry Magistrates' Court by stating that the post mortem examination carried out on Sophia concluded that the cause of death was head injuries.
The report also stated that 'no medical attention could have changed the outcome'.

Mr Young said: 'I had diverted through Bell Green as the M6 was blocked off. It had been a nice easy day.
'Visibility was fine and I felt good. Up until that point it was a good day.'
He said his lorry was in the middle lane of Henley Road to go straight on at the traffic lights and he was 'in a queue of traffic and I did all my checks all the time. I do that all the time'.
Mr Young said he felt a 'slight impact and next thing I know there was a lady screaming that I had killed her baby'.
He added: 'I jumped out of the cab and can only describe what looked like a mannequin between the wheels.'
Sophia's mum, Mis s Clarke, was asked if she had any questions for Mr Young and she said she remembered stepping in to the road and 'Sophia was holding my hand'.
She said: 'A car came past and I stepped back - I don't know if Sophia stepped back too far.
'I banged on the lorry. I was hoping she was in the middle (of the lorry) and not in the wheels.'
Mr Young's solicitor asked him if there was anything he could have done to change what happened.
He replied: 'I wish to hell there was.'

PC Ian Took, a forensic collision investigator with West Midlands Police, also took to the stand.
He said: 'Sophia was walking along Henley Road with her mother. The lorry had a dashcam which captured footage.
'As they (Sophia and her mother) get near to the doctor's surgery they went out of view of the dashcam.
'They started to cross the road towards Riley Square.
'The skip lorry had stopped and then the vehicles in front moved off as the traffic lights changed to green.

'It is unlikely that the driver of the lorry would have been able to see Sophia's mother as he started to move forward, and he would not have been able to see Sophia.'
PC Took stated that Sophia was knocked over and the front wheel of the lorry went over her 'causing fatal injuries'.
The officer added: 'In my opinion, the driver could not have avoided this collision.'
The inquest was also told that no criminal charges were being brought in connection with the incident.Â
