Sportsshoes shows how long it takes to burn off ice cream
While many of us watch our waistlines more during the summer months, an ice cream on a hot day can sometimes be simply too tempting to turn down.
But often lurking in those delicious lollies is a surprising number of calories that can take an age to burn off.
A calorie-laden Maxibon sandwich, for example, will take a staggering 40 minutes of running to burn off - while a chocolate Mini Milk takes just four minutes.Â
Whether you're a Fab fan or a Calippo enthusiast, this handy infographic reveals exactly how long you need to do a number of summer activities in order to neutralise your extra calorie intake.
This handy guide from Sportsshoes.com breaks down exactly how much running - or sandcastle-building - it takes to burn off your favourite ice creams and lollies
This infographic, created by sportsshoes.com, serves as a handy guide detailing how much exercise is needed to erase any post-indulgence guilt. Â
Commenting on the findings, personal trainer Aimée Victoria Long says: 'There are plenty of food temptations in the summer.
'Tasty hot dogs and burgers at BBQs, coffee shops bringing out summer menus filled with sweet and creamy ice frappes and keeping on top of your thirst with cold fizzy drinks. And of course ice creams.'
With even the fittest and strictest amongst us being tempted to demolish ice-creams in the heat, it makes sense to increase your workout routine to make-up for your summer food indulgences.Â
However, it's easier said than done as Aimée explains: 'There are so many impromptu distractions in the summer even I find myself making excuses to miss a workout: it's too hot; the place I am training doesn't have air-conditioning; I would rather see my friends because we don't often have weather like this; I will just go to training later etc.Â
Fab news! It's a summertime favourite, and this chart reveals it takes just ten minutes of jogging to burn off - equivalent to 23 minutes of mini golf or nine minutes of ultimate frisbee
Coming in at 176kcal, you'll need 30 minutes of brisk walking on a sandy beach to burn off that Cornetto. Alternatively, 22 minutes of jogging or 41 minutes off squats will reverse the damage
At 315kcal, the Maxibon cookie version is by far the worst offender. You'll need to perform 40 minutes of jogging to burn off the calories, or just under an hour of walking on a sandy beach
At 244Kcal, a chocolate Magnum requires just over half an hour to run off. But if you're not into jogging, Sportsshoes.com suggest an hour of squats or 57 minutes of push-ups instead
'And it's not only me, during the warmer weather, numbers in my classes tend to drop slightly and clients cancel last minute (especially in the evenings) to see friends or go out with their partner.'
But the summer sun distractions and extra treats don't mean you have to wildly up the ante on your regular exercise and workouts.Â
Aimée advises: 'Simply stay aware of the extra treats you eat and make the most of the sunshine in an active way.Â
There are plenty of fun ways to keep your summer treats and exercise in balance, without feeling like you're doing extra work, whether it's a game of volleyball, swimming in the sea or a simple bike ride.'
