We are all occasionally guilty of the odd typo or grammar slip-up however, as these people will confirm, a small mistake can cause a world of problems.

A hilarious gallery of images shared online reveals the very worst spelling and grammar howlers people have come across on social media.

In many cases a missed comma or apostrophe has caused a Facebook status to take on a whole new meaning - often with embarrassing consequences. 

In several examples a visit from the grammar police has not been well received, with red faced people hitting back at their critics. 

Ot hers, however, fail to understand exactly where they have gone wrong - even when their pals pull them up on it.

Whether they make you laugh or cringe, these pictures serve as a reminder to always use your spellcheck tool.
