Transfer round-up: Renato Sanches says he must leave Bayern Munich | Football
Renato Sanches has admitted he must leave Bayern Munich this summer after finding his opportunities limited under Carlo Ancelotti, with the Portugal midfielder revealing he could be tempted by a move to Milan.
The 19-year-old starred in Bayernâs 3-2 win over Chelsea on Tuesday in the International Champions Cup in Singapore but has been told he is free to join another club next season having been used sparingly in the previous campaign. Sanches made only17 Bundesliga appearances for the German champions last season and has acknowledged he now needs to look elsewhere.
âIâm not satisfied. Of course I would like to play more. This is why I want to join a club where I could get more playing time,â he told SportBild.
Milan have been credited with an interest in Sanches, who moved to Munich last summer from Benfica for an initial â¬35m, with the Italian sideâs manager, Vincenzo Montella, admitting last week that he would like to sign him. That prospect was welcomed by the midfielder.
âMilan is an interesting option,â he said. âIf the opportunity arises and the clubs can agree, I would like to see them. I am now on tour with Bayern but after that we will get together in Munich and hopefully find a solution. Iâm young, I want and I have to play a lot. I think the chance to do so is greater in Milan than in Munich.â
Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked in the past with a move for Sanches, who was not included in Portugalâs squad for the Confederations Cup last month and instead played at the European Under-21 Championship.
Burnley and Leeds have agreed a fee for Charlie Taylor, who signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor earlier this month.
The agreement, which involves an undisclosed sum, means the two clubs will now no longer have to go to a tribunal.
The 23-year-old full-back joined the Clarets after coming to the end of his existing contract at Elland Road. Despite being to all intents a free agent, Leeds were entitled to compensation due to Taylor being aged under 24, and they reportedly valued the player at around £5m.
Meanwhile Wolves have confirmed the signing of the Portugal Under-21 international Diogo Jota from Atlético Madrid on a season-long loan.
Jota, who began his career in his homeland with Pacos Ferreira and joined Atlético on a five-year deal last summer, spent last season on loan at the Portuguese side Porto, where he played under the Wolves head coach, Nuno EspÃrito Santo.
âI am very excited,â the 20-year-old attacking midfielder said. âWolves is a huge club and an historic club. It is always a goal for me to play in England and this is a good opportunity for me.
âIt is good for me to work with Nuno again because I know him and worked with him last year. I have also worked with some of the other players here as well. That will help me settle in.
âIt is always better when there are people that you know when you are moving to something different â" a different country with a different language. Playing in the Championship will be very hard and very competitive with a lot of games. It will be a good experience for me.â
The Championship club have already completed deals for six players this summer, with the Portugal midfielder Rúben Neves the most eye-catching arrival for a cub record £15.8m. Nuno is a client of the agent Jorge Mendes, who is known to have a close connection with Porto.
Wolves have denied he has garnered an excessive influence in their transfer dealings, although the club has acknowledged that Mendes was a âknown associateâ and friend of the clubâs Chinese owner.
Elsewhere Brighton have announced the signing of the England Under-20 forward Izzy Brown from Chelsea on a season-long loan. Brown spent last season on loan at Huddersfield but has opted to join Chris Hughtonâs side after agreeing a new long-term contract with the Premier League champions.
âThe natural progression for Izzy, having enjoyed such a successful season in the Championship last season, was to step up to the Premier League and we are delighted he will be doing that with us, here at Brighton,â said Hughton.
âHe is a player with great potential and will bring a different dimension to our attacking options for the season ahead, alongside our existing strikers.â
The former Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has signed for the League One side Peterborough. The 31-year-old centre-half, who made over 250 appearances for the Magpies over 13 years, has agreed a two-year deal with Posh. Taylor had a brief spell with the Major League Soccer franchise the Portland Timbers before joining Ipswich on a short-term contract late last season.
Hull City are closing in on a move for the England Under-20 goalkeeper Callum Burton from Shrewsbury as a replacement for Eldin Jakupovic, who joined Leicester last week.
