Texas video shows decapitated snake head bare its fangs
A gory video has emerged of a venomous water snake flashing its fangs and turning on the floor after its head had been cut off.Â
The clip shows the deadly black moccasin, also known as a cottonmouth snake, looking as though it is still alive.Â
After a few moments the nerve endings die out and the snake stops moving. It's then prodded by one the viewers checking for signs of life.Â

Streaks and dots of blood can be seen on the ground and a separate picture shows the serpent's body, without its head.Â
Jill-Scott Mollett from Sunnyvale, Texas posted the video on her Facebook account earlier this week and said her two young daughters had come across the deadly serpent in a garden flowerbed.Â
In the absence of a knife 'Avery' used tree loppers to cut its head, thus avoiding a potentially deadly bite from the animal.Â
Jill-Scott Mollett's post read: 'So the girls found a cottonmouth water moccasin today, in our flower bed of all places.Â
'We didn't have a knife close to us, so Avery chopped it's head off with some tree loppers. The girls' favorite part was when the head kept trying t o bite stuff for a few minutes after it was chopped off its body. #CountryLivingAtItsFinest'Â
The video has stoked varied responses on social media with some venting their outrage at the killing.

Death: Avery used tree loopers to cut its head, thus avoiding a potential deadly bite from the animal
One wrote: 'I hope your children grow to be better adults then you are attempting to raise them.'Â
However a more sympathetic person said: 'I don't think a lot of you are comprehending how dangerous those snakes are..?Â
'Just put yourselves in their position for a second. If your child came across a snake in your yard that could put them in a hospital are you really going to just going to leave the snake alone?'Â Â Â Â
A bite from a black moccasin could leave scars and in rare occasions require an amputation. Death from a bite is even rarer.Â
The snake is said not to possess an aggressive demeanor unless it feels in danger.
Jill-Scott Mollett and her family have received flack on Facebook for the videoÂ
