US Asks for Emergency Security Council Meeting on North Korea
The U.N. Security Council could hold an emergency closed-door meeting Wednesday on the latest North Korean missile launch.
The United States asked for the emergency talks. U.S. military analysts suspect the North test fired an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching Alaska.
The U.N. has imposed sanction after sanction on Pyongyang, which have apparently done little to convince the North to give up its nuclear ambitions.
The latest test launch has also frustrated North Korea's biggest ally, China, which currently holds the Security Council presidency. China has appeared to have made little progress in reining in North Korea.
