Curvy Kate bra video reveals the perfect fit for breasts

  • It is believed thousands of UK women are wearing the wrong bra size
  • Lingerie retailer want to warn of the risk of not having enough support
  • Video shows how  much breasts can 'jiggle' if bras don't hold them in properly
  • Dr. Jenny Burbage says inadequate support can cause damage to breast tissue

Do your breasts bounce when you move - or are they firmly in place?

It's not a question most women will have spent much time pondering, but it may reveal whether or not your bra fits correctly.

The most popular bra size in the UK in 2017 is reportedly a 36DD, but one plus-size retailer disputes this - and has backed up her argument with a video to show just how little support an ill-fitting bra provides.

Lingerie brand Curvy Kate claim as many as 95 per cent of women wear the incorrect bra size - and made the clip in a bid to show how wearing an ill-fitting bra can actually cause damage to breast tissue.

Their team of experts strapped a woman into two bras - a 38F and a 32H - and filmed her walking on the spot, with pink tracking dots to show the difference in movement between the two.

With the former offering inadequate support, they claim the video highlights 'the detrimental effects wearing an ill-fitting bra can have on 'breasts and their health'.

Commenting on the video, Dr. Jenny Burbage from the Research Group in Breast Health at Portsmouth University said: 'Excessive breast motion can lead to breast pain, embarrassment and potential damage to the delicate breast tissue in the longer term.'

Curvy Kate's in-house bra expert Chantelle Crabb added: 'It's widely reported that huge amounts of women are still in the wrong bra size, and we wanted a way to show how this can have a severe effect of women's breasts.

'The video seemed like a way for women to physically see what opting for the wrong bra size can do to their boobs.'

The video comes amid the launch of a new product, dubbed the 'Victory Bra' - designed to streamline and support a fuller bust.

In a survey carried out on solely women who had been professionally bra fitted, the retailer found that the most popular size in the UK was in fact a 34G - not a 36DD as widely reported.
