- National Coffee Association USA reveals there's a specific 'Golden Ratio' to use
- It recommends using one or two tablespoons of grounds for six ounces of water
- Experts also suggest using water that's between 185F and 205F
Some people can't live without coffee - and if you're one of those caffeine addicts, then it's very important that your daily fix tastes right.
Now experts have revealed there's a very precise ratio of grounds to water that works best when using a French press or making a pot of filter coffee.
And the very specific amount of ground coffee to hot water is said to make the difference between a weak cup of joe and a deliciously strong, energising beverage.
If you add too much water and not enough coffee to your French press, then you'll end up with a weak and watery cupÂ
The so-called 'Golden Ratio' for the perfect cup of coffee is said to be one or two tablespoons of ground coffee for every six ounces of water, according to the National Coffee Association USAÂ (NCA USA).
The decision to use one or two tablespoons of coffee depends on how strong you like your cup.
The association also recommends that the water is between 185 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit.
You can recycle used grounds by using them to fertilise plants
It advises allowing the water to reach a full boil and then letting it rest for a minute before pouring over the coffee grounds.
It suggests allowing coffee to brew for five minutes using a drip filter system, or two to four minutes when using a French press.Â
Freshly ground coffee is said to give you a better taste, if you have the time to grind your beans every time you want a drink.
The NCA USA also points out that you should never reuse coffee grounds as only the bitter flavours will be left as all the other delicious flavours will already have been extracted.Â
