Murdered model Sally Anne Bowman's devastated parents have been forced to dig up her ashes after sick mindless vandals smashed up her grave four times in six months.

The 18-year-old aspiring model was murdered in Croydon in 2005 by Mark Dixie, 46, who had sex with her before smoking a joint next to her body.

He then went to a cafe where he sat for hours and watched as police descended on the crime scene.

But, 12 years on from those horrific events her family are dealing with the devastating heartache of thugs desecrating her headstone, and also spreading soil and smashed plant pots over her resting place.

Her mother, Linda, told the Mirror: 'There are some cruel people out there who get a kick out of these things. So she’s no longer there.

'These people were coming at night after I had left because I was there all the time. They were chucking dirt and dead flowers over her grave. They would completely cover it.

'They would also leave cards with her name in red writing. We’d just had enough.'

It comes days after Dixie revealed chilling details about how he conducted the murder.

Dixie, a former pub chef, was jailed for life with a minimum of 34 years in 2008 for raping and stabbing model Sally Anne outside her home.

Her devastated mother, Linda (left) has revealed they had to bring their daughter's ashes home due to the vandalism

He only admitted to sexually assaulting the teenager â€" his lawyer claimed he had found Sally Anne dead or dying in the street.

Years after her murder, police received notification that Dixie wanted to confess.

Sally Anne's family were later visited by Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Cundy.

The family were told that Dixie said he heard Sally Anne and her ex-partner Lewis Sprotston arguing after a night out.

The killer said he was 'already angry' after attacking a woman earlier that evening, and became disturbed when her screams drew a taxi driver's attention.

The murderer said Sally Anne struggled and tried to scream â€" at which point he began stabbing the teenager.

Linda said that during his confession Dixie told police he had become aroused when returning to tidy up Sally Anne's clothing and having sex with her corpse, before smoking cannabis.

The devastated mother added that Dixie told police he was angry after having an argument with his ex-girlfriend and that he had been drinking and taking cocaine.

Linda told the Mirror: 'He said his adrenaline was still pumping. He could hear Lewis and Sally raising their voices, then Sally got out of the car. He said he attacked from behind, putting his left arm around her face.'
