Huge huntsman spider emerges from behind bathroom mirror

Gold Coast man found a huge huntsman spider behind his bathroom mirror
He filmed the moment it emerged after he sprayed it with water
It then scurried away to a new hiding spot, much to the horror of its housemateÂ

You never know what's lurking in your bathroom - from a drain clogged with hair or a knife-wielding serial killer.

But perhaps worse is the giant huntsman spider one young man horrifyingly found hiding behind the mirror in his Gold Coast home.

The frustrated resident filmed the sight for his friends overseas who might not believe the size of Australia's creepy crawlers.

'This one's for all my friends who don't live in Australia. This is what we have to live with,' he said at the start of the video.

He tapped on the mirror a few times to make the arachnid come out, expressing annoyance when it stayed hidden, before resorting to spraying it with water.

Finally some of its eight legs began to curl menacingly around the edge of the mirror before it emerged from its hiding spot.

It crawled along the wall for a while before suddenly dropping to the floor and scurrying away.

The man frantically tried to locate where it went to get rid of it once and for all, but couldn't find where it ran to.

'I don't know where it is. It's the worst part ,' he said at the end of the video.

Though quite large and an unpleasant shock, the huntsman was by no means the biggest of its kind seen in Australia.

Last week a gigantic spider gave a Sunshine Coast family a fright when it appeared on the outside of their glass door while they were cooking dinner.

Dubbed Aaragog after the giant spider from the Harry Potter series, it even frightened the family cat when it was held up to the glass.Â
